Can You See Who Views Your Spotify Profile?

While Spotify doesn't grant users to ability to see who is viewing their profile at a specific moment, there are a few ways that you can determine when a Spotify user has viewed your profile or Spotify playlists.

How To See Who Viewed Your Spotify Profile

While Spotify offers a variety of engagement metrics for playlists, albums, and tracks, these analytics don't include information on the specific Spotify account that engaged with your profile or content.

The only way to see the specific Spotify user who has visited your profile is by viewing your followers list - note that this only works if the user in question follows your Spotify account.

To access your Spotify followers list, follow the instructions below depending on your device type:

On The Spotify Desktop App or Spotify Web

Click your profile icon on the top right corner.

Click Profile.

Beneath your username, click Followers.

From here you'll be able to view a list of the users who follow your profile. You can click their profiles to view more.

On The Spotify Mobile App

Tap your profile icon on the top left corner.

Tap View Profile beneath your username.

Tap Followers beneath your username.

From here you'll see a list of the users who follow you. You can tap the three dots on the right to remove or block them, or you can tap their username to view their profile.

How To Make Playlists Private

By default, Spotify playlists are public to encourage playlist communities, but you can easily hide it on either the desktop app or via your mobile device by following the steps below. Note that making a playlist private will not delete any Spotify playlist likes.

Open the playlist of your choice.

Click or tap the three dots beneath the playlist description or name.

Tap the option with the lock icon that says Make Private.

How To Make Your Profile Private

While you can't make your entire Spotify profile private, you can adjust individual settings or set a private listening session.

Adjusting Profile Visibility

To adjust what users see when they visit your profile, you'll need to be using the Spotify desktop app.

While logged in, click your profile picture on the top right.

Click Settings.

Scroll down to Social.

From here you can toggle ON/OFF the following settings:

  • Publish my new playlists on my profile

  • Start a private session

  • Share my listening activity on Spotify

  • Show my recently played artists on my public profile

  • Show my follower and following lists on my public profile

Set A Private Listening Session

You can start a private session by following the steps below for either the Spotify app for mobile or desktop.

This session will expire after 6 hours, after which you can start a new one.

Private sessions are not available for the browser version of Spotify (a.k.a Spotify web).

On The Spotify App (Mobile)

Tap your profile picture on the top left corner.

Tap Settings And Privacy.

Tap Privacy And Social.

Toggle Private Session ON.

On The Spotify App (Desktop)

Click your profile picture on the top left corner.

Click Private Session.

You should see a blue lock icon appear on the top right of your Spotify screen.

How To See Spotify Engagement

Although Spotify doesn't provide information on which users specifically engaged with your content, you can still access the available metrics to see the number of users and the frequency in which your Spotify playlists, albums, and tracks are engaged with.

You can learn more about accessing specific metrics for your own Spotify artist playlists, albums, tracks, artist profiles, podcasts, and more with our detailed Spotify analytics guide here.

How To View Your Friend's Listening Activity

Then, click your profile picture on the top right of the desktop app.

Scroll down to Display.

Toggle ON See what your friends are playing. You'll then be able to see friend's listening activity on the side of the desktop app.

How To Turn Off Listening Activity

If you don't want your friends to be able to access your listening activity, you can toggle it off.

On Spotify Mobile

Tap your profile picture.

Tap Settings & Privacy.

Tap Privacy And Social.

Do Third Party Tracking Apps Work?

Like most popular music streaming platforms, Spotify doesn't make private data available to third parties. As a rule of thumb, never provide your Spotify login information or other personal data to a third party app or website that claims to provide this information.
