When you archive Instagram posts, they're sent to an archive that can be accessed and edited. When you unarchive an Instagram post it returns to its original position in your profile page and will show the original posting date.

There is no way to move archived Instagram posts to the top of your profile page as a 'new' post - to move the position of an Instagram post you will have to archive or delete it and repost it manually.

How To Archive Instagram Posts

You can hide posts by archiving them via the Instagram app by following the steps below:

Open Instagram and access the posted content from your profile feed.

Tap the three dots on the top right corner and select Archive.

That's it! Archived posts are sent to the Instagram archive where you can manage and edit them.

NOTE: To archive content on your Instagram profile Android app or iPhone app access is required. These steps will not work on the current desktop site.

How To Unarchive Instagram Posts

To make an archived post public again, you can unarchive it by following the steps below:

Open Instagram and access your profile. 

Tap the three lines on the top right corner.

Tap Archive to see all Instagram photos or Story posts that you've hidden from public view.

To Unarchive a post, tap it to open it, then tap the three dots on the top right corner.

Tap Show On Profile.

When you unarchive posts they will appear in the original place of your Instagram profile - there is no way to make unarchived posts appear as new posts.

How To Access Your Stories Archive

Did you know that you can access your full Instagram Stories history, and add archived Stories to your Highlights section on your Instagram account?

Open Instagram and access your profile. 

Tap the three lines on the top right corner.

Tap Archive.

Tap the drop down on the top to access Story posts that you've hidden from public view.

Tap the Story of your choice to highlight, reshare, or boost the archived Story.

How To Organize Your Instagram Feed

If you want to improve the appearance of your Instagram profile layout, there are a few methods. However, keep in mind that there is currently no way to reorder the published posts on your account - to change the order of a post you will have to delete it and manually repost it.

Archiving Posts

You can remove content that you want to hide from Instagram users by archiving a post. This will hide the post, but not delete it permanently.

To archive posts, follow the steps outlined here.

Deleting Posts

Permanently deleting Instagram posts will remove them from your feed and hide them from your followers feeds. You will not be able to reaccess a deleted post.

• To delete an Instagram post, access the post of your choice.
• Tap the three dots icon on the top right corner.
• Tap Delete and confirm your choice.
