Noticing a blue dot near your Facebook friend's profile picture? It's a visual indicator that you haven't watched that particular Story yet, similar to an unread message notification.

How To Hide Stories On Facebook

While the blue dot and colorful ring is mean to draw attention to the Facebook Stories section of a recipient's device, it can be distracting for some. If you want to hide the Stories section on Facebook you can do so by turning off your active status.

Desktop

Open Facebook Messenger.

Click your profile picture on the bottom left corner.

Click Preferences.

Click Active Status: ON , then toggle it OFF.

Click Save.

Mobile

Open the Facebook Messenger app.

Tap the three lines on the top left corner.

Tap the gear icon on the top right to open Settings.

Tap Active Status.

Toggle it OFF.

Can Someone Tell If I Viewed Their Story?

Yes - users can see your profile picture at the bottom of their Facebook Story if you've viewed it.

What Is The Green Dot On Facebook?

The green dot symbol means that this user is online, either on the Facebook Messenger app or on the desktop Facebook site.
