Pinterest has an age requirement of 13 years old like most social media platforms- but some countries might have stricter age minimums based on their respective age of consent ranging anywhere from 13-16. Users must be at least the age of consent in their home country to use Pinterest.
Pinterest Settings For Users Under Age 16
To ensure a safe and positive environment for users 16 years of age or under, Pinterest accounts are private - only the user and their invited followers can see their pins and boards. Teens can still make secret boards that their followers will not be able to view.
Teens under 16 can message mutual followers and receive message requests from group Pinterest board collaborators. They can also block people, including business accounts, from interacting with them in any way.
How To Delete A Minor's Account
If you have a child under the age of 13 who is using Pinterest, you can email privacy-support@pinterest.com to request that their account be deleted.
Setting Up A Parental Passcode
Parents can set up a 4 digit passcode that locks certain settings and permissions on underage user accounts. Once the user turns 18, both age restrictions and the passcode will expire and they'll regain full access of their account.
The passcode will be required to edit the following data settings:
-
Email
-
Password
-
Profile visibility
-
Ads personalization
-
Messaging
-
@Mentions
-
Comments
-

Reporting Inappropriate Content
To maintain a positive environment for all users and keep Pinterest safe, users can report content that violates Pinterest's terms or provide user feedback to improve the overall platform experience. Inappropriate content includes self harm, weight loss promotion, and other graphic content that might violate the mental health and well being of young people on Pinterest.
You can report inappropriate content by following the steps below:
Click the three dots on the top right corner of the pin you wish to report.
Click Report Pin.
Select your reason, then click Next.
Click Done.
