Does Instagram Show Who Viewed Your Reels In 2025?

With Instagram Reel Insights, users with a business or creator account can see how many accounts engaged with their content - but not the specific users who viewed the Reels.

The only exception to this is if the user liked or commented their Reel - in which case their profile picture and username would be visible to anyone viewing the Reel (and would imply that they viewed the Reel while engaging with it).

Here's how you can access your Instagram Reel insights to see who watched your Reel and engaged with your Instagram account.

Accessing Instagram Insights

You can use your Instagram Insights page to view Insights on engagement across all post types, including Reels, via the Instagram desktop site or Instagram app.

Just make sure you have a Business or Creator account, as Insights aren't available on a Personal account. You can learn how to change your account type here.

On Desktop

Log in to the account you wish to view insights for and click Dashboard in the left hand menu.

Beneath Professional Dashboard, click the drop-down menu that says Insights and select Content.

From here, click All > Reels to see all your Reels.

Click the Reel of your choice. From here you'll see the Reel view count split by followers and non-followers, as well as other engagement metrics.

While you won't be able to see who watched your Reel specifically, you will be able to see the number of views in total as well as average watch time, and whether or not individual viewers were following you at the time of viewing.

On Mobile

From your Instagram profile, tap the three line menu icon on the top right corner.

Scroll down to For Professionals and tap Insights.

From here, tap Content You Shared and tap All to filter by Reels.

Tap the Reel of your choice.

Directly From A Post

You can also access Insights for any specific Reels posted directly from the post itself. This feature is only available on mobile.

From your profile page, tap the Reels tab.

Tap the Reel of your choice.

Tap the three dot icon on the top right corner.

Tap View Insights.

You'll be able to see post insights for your specific Reel including views and other forms of engagement.

Can you access insights from a personal account?

No, only Business or Creator accounts have access to Instagram insights. You'll also need to have a public Instagram account - if you have a private account you'll need to make it public before you can begin playing around with Insights.

How To Switch Account Types

Tap your profile icon in the bottom-right corner of the app.

Tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner.

Choose Settings from the menu.

Select Account Type And Tools.

Scroll down and tap either Switch to Professional Account or Switch to Creator Account

Can you hide your Reels from certain Instagram users?

Yes, there are two methods to prevent certain users from seeing your content.

The first is by sharing content to Close Friends.

The second is by blocking someone entirely.

How To Share A Reel To Close Friends

Prepare your post as usual. When you get to the caption section, scroll down and tap Audience.

Select Close Friends and share your post as usual.

How To Block A User On Instagram

Visit the user's profile and tap the three dots on the top right corner.

Tap Block and confirm your choice.

Do any third party apps show who viewed your Instagram Reels?

No - the Instagram algorithm does not make the specific user data of a viewer public to the content creator, and this information is not disclosed to third party apps either. Any third party apps or sites claiming to have access to this information is likely a phishing scam and should be avoided.
